How it works
Hiring a camper shouldn't feel like applying for a mortgage. Here's the whole process, start to finish, including the money bits other companies hide.
-
1 · Book online
Pick your dates and choose your camper. The price you see is all-in: insurance, UK breakdown and unlimited miles included, with no add-ons. Pay a booking deposit (25% of the hire, minimum £150) and the dates are yours. Book more than 4 weeks ahead and the balance is due 3 weeks before you collect; inside 4 weeks you pay in full when you book.
-
2 · Online check-in (10 minutes, from your phone)
After booking we'll send a secure link to upload: your photo-card driving licence, two proofs of address dated within 90 days, and a DVLA check code (free from gov.uk, takes two minutes; the link shows you how). We never ask for documents by email. Drivers need to be 21–70 and have held a full licence for 2+ years (drivers under 25 are considered case by case, with a higher excess); EU and foreign licences have a manual check path.
-
3 · The deposit & excess, plainly
On collection day we take a refundable security deposit of £750 by bank transfer from the lead driver's own account (an insurance requirement; have your banking app with you). It matches the insurance excess. A clean, undamaged van back on time = the full deposit back to the same account, normally within 5 working days. Some endorsements (like a single 6-point SP30) raise the excess; we confirm yours during checks, before your balance is due, never at the counter.
-
4 · Collect & go
Park your car in our secure area, swap keys, drive away. Your car stays in the gated yard, free, until you're back.
From 3pm on day one. We do a proper handover (gas, electrics, water, heating, the lot), walk round the van together, sign digitally, and hand you the keys. And if there's no booking right before yours, we can often hand over earlier at no charge; we check the calendar and let you know a few days before your trip.
Your protection: the filmed walk-around. Before you drive off we record the van's condition together: every panel, the fuel gauge, the mileage. It's timestamped and kept with your booking, so you can never be blamed for a mark that was there before you.
-
5 · Bring it home
Back by 10am with the fuel as you found it. We inspect together against that same walk-around footage, so there are no grey areas, and your deposit is released. Then you start planning the next one.
Questions people actually ask
How does the security deposit work?
We take a refundable £750 security deposit on collection day, paid by bank transfer from the lead driver's own account (an insurance requirement), matching the insurance excess. It goes back to the same account after the van comes back clean and undamaged, normally within 5 working days of inspection. If a driver's record carries an insurance loading, the deposit follows the adjusted excess and we'll tell you the exact figure before you pay your balance.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Change your mind within 48 hours of booking and it's a full refund. Otherwise it's a percentage of what you've paid: 100% at 60+ days before collection, everything except the deposit at 28–59 days (the deposit becomes a credit towards new dates within 12 months), 50% at 14–27 days, 25% at 7–13 days, and nothing under 7 days. The booking page shows exactly what comes back on any date. Whatever the date, if we manage to rebook your dates we refund whatever the new booking pays, up to everything you paid.
Who can drive? What licence do I need?
Drivers aged 25–79 with a full UK, EU, Australian or New Zealand licence held for at least 2 years are covered as standard. Drivers aged 21–24 are considered case by case and carry a higher excess, so contact us before booking. We check every driver with a DVLA share code before collection; getting one takes two minutes on gov.uk and we'll show you how. EU and other foreign licences can usually be covered via a manual check; a couple of endorsement types carry a higher excess or need insurer approval, which we'll confirm before you pay your balance.
What time is collection and return?
Collection from 3pm on your first day; return by 10am on your last. That gap is how we keep every van properly cleaned, checked and safe between hires.
